So the other day NPR ran a story in which Tom Moon talked about compiling a playlist for a summer road trip. His list, he said, usually included The Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers, but this year, in an attempt to change things up a bit, he was including new cuts from Green Day and Wilco among others.
Now personally, I try to never start a trip of any length without Chicago's "Hard to Say I'm Sorry / Get Away" (It's not the main song as much as the honkin' horn tag at the end) and Jackson Browne's album Running On Empty... As far as I'm concerned there's not been a better road album made than that one...
But I wanna open it up to you guys... get a little discussion going (and maybe a little road-trippin' inspiration, too... What's on your "On The Road" playlist? What are those songs that just scream "We've got a full tank of gas, a half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses... Hit it." to you? Lemme know in the comments section below...
Oh, and while you're thinkin' about it, here's another song from Running On Empty... this one's for SSA and MOO... they know why...

Rosie is such a tender song written for the man's one true love.
